
TealPoint Software announced the release of TealAlias version 1.00 for Palm OS handhelds. TealAlias allows handheld owners to take advantage of external expansion memory cards like Compact Flash, Memory Stick, SD, and MMC. Similar to Windows “shortcuts” or MacOS “alias” files, TealAlias aliases are small placeholder applications that, when run, automatically find, load, and launch specified applications and data files from memory or external flash cards.

Palm, Inc. announced five agreements with technology companies for voice over IP (VoIP), Wi-Fi, and authentication software based on protocol developed by Cisco. These agreements are designed to make wirelessly using the Internet or corporate network more accessible, versatile, and secure for professionals using the Palm Tungsten C handheld. VLI, Linksys, Wayport, WiFinder, and Meetinghouse Data Communications introduced products, services, and special offers that capitalize on the integrated Wi-Fi of the Tungsten C handheld for Wi-Fi campus networkers and small office or home office (SOHO) professionals.

Palm, Inc. has teamed with Orange France to design solutions for professionals on the move to gain access to their email and enterprise data. The companies will offer the Orange bureau service powered by the Palm Tungsten W handheld computer, scheduled for release in France this summer via Orange’s distribution network.

Loris Ltd. launched a new product, MetaInstaller. This software allows developers to package their software and build installations for Windows, Palm, and Pocket PC platforms. The installer also allows building cross-platform installation packages, where the same software with different versions for different platforms (Palm, PocketPC, Windows) is distributed in a single installation package.

The new weather application, based on QUALCOMM’s Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless (BREW) platform, delivers rich, multimedia weather forecasts and images to users who download the application using the latest handsets.

sfr GmbH in Cologne presented a new version of their graphical security solution for PDAs: visual Key PalmOS 1.6. visual Key PalmOS 1.6 is a security solution that replaces the standard login of all Palm, Handspring, Handera, and Sony PDAs from Palm OS 3.5 to Palm OS 5.0 with an easier and safer procedure.

StylusCentral.com announces the commercial availability of its new 2-in-1 stylus pen for the Palm Tungsten T PDA. The new model incorporates both a stylus and refillable ink pen and fits into the PDA silo, the channel in which users store their styli when not in use. The stylus also telescopes from a length of 3 10/16″ to a maximum length of 5″.

Grey Matter India launched Mobile Assist, Symbian based call management software for mobile handsets. Mobile Assist is a complete call management application that automates inbound/outbound calls and two way SMS messages. Mobile Assist allows user to respond to callers with personalized voice messages. Mobile Assist can identify the caller and play a prerecorded message for the particular user.
