TealScript v3.00 released

TealPoint Software announced the release of TealScript version 3.00 for Palm OS handhelds. Replacing the built-in Graffiti and Graffiti-2 text-recognition systems, TealScript, from TealPoint Software, offers an improved, tunable alternative. Instead of forcing the user to adjust to a fixed set of reference strokes, TealScript is fully configurable, allowing training and modifying of existing strokes or addition of new ones for improved personal handwriting recognition. TealScript also supports advanced features such as macro strokes, multi-stroke characters, easy capitalization, better accuracy, and entering text using the full screen surface under Palm OS 5. TealScript retails for $19.95.

Mapopolis ClearRoute trial

Mapopolis announced the immediate availability of their new traffic product, Mapopolis ClearRoute, for public trial. ClearRoute provides traffic-optimized routing meaning that it automatically avoids traffic slow-downs and accidents. The public trial covers ten cities: Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Houston, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Seattle, LA, and San Francisco. When the product is released later this month, it will cover the 70 + largest metropolitan areas in the United States.

RIM meets approval

Research In Motion announced that the BlackBerry platform has now received Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) approval for operation on all wireless network standards supported by BlackBerry(x) including Mobitex, DataTAC, GSM/GPRS, Nextel and CDMA 1X. RIM’s cryptographic firmware embedded in the Java-based series of BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds has been awarded the FIPS 140-2 security validation by the U.S. Government’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). FIPS validation is an important and often mandatory purchasing criteria for many government organizations.

Entry-level crm-on-air licence

SolutionPlanet Ltd. introduced an entry-level crm-on-air licence for those wanting to start off really small with wireless email/PIM or just cannot find the need for more than a handful of users. They have a five user licence for =A3250 per year and a ten user licence for =A3450. The licence fee includes free access to maintenance, upgrades, and support, and the licences key can be used with crm-on-air for access to the Domino Directory (Name & Address Book).

BlackBerry offerings in France

Five months after SFR’s launch of the BlackBerry wireless solution in France, SFR and Research In Motion (RIM) announced the launch of a new wireless handheld and enhanced features for enterprise customers. In response to customer needs, SFR and RIM are expanding the BlackBerry offering in terms of hardware, software functionality, and service including: a new handheld with improved phone ergonomics and new BlackBerry Enterprise Server software functionality.

SNAPPS AnyPlace Administrator

Strategic Net Applications, Inc. (SNAPPS) announced the release of SNAPPS AnyPlace Administrator for Lotus Team Workplace. The product was unveiled at the IBM developerWorks LIVE conference in New Orleans, LA, where four SNAPPS developers are featured speakers. AnyPlace Administrator offers administrators a point-and-click browser interface to the API commands. Activities like adding users, creating new places, locking and unlocking places, and refreshing from templates are exposed in the product’s management screens, making the command line practically obsolete.

AmericanEagle.com and Eros

AmericanEagle.com recently partnered with Eros Technology Corporation utilizing Eros’ own Wyncs Web Sync Utility as their source for Web-to-Outlook data transfer. To see how well it would work, AmericanEagle.com’s initial Wyncs test was on clients Sports Schedule pages. This allowed site visitors to transfer the sports schedule to their Palm handhelds or Microsoft Outlook.
