Motionbox, the service that makes personal video worth sharing, announced plans to give subscribers the ability to share HD quality personal video via Apple TV, making it even easier for families, friends, and groups to enjoy their personal video.

As part of a set of premium services launching later this quarter, Motionbox plans to enable subscribers the ability to download their personal videos to Apple TV, as well as iTunes and Video iPod, supporting all video formats including HD. Subscribers and their friends and family will be able to share HD quality personal video in their homes via Apple TV.

AccuWeather.com announced that it has launched a user-contributed video contest that invites AccuWeather fans to submit video forecasts from their own backyards. The U.S. military plan to test an Internet router in space, in a project that could also benefit civilian broadband satellite communications.

Cisco Systems and Intelsat General, a subsidiary of Intelsat, are among the companies selected by the U.S. Department of Defense for its IRIS (Internet Routing In Space) project, which aims to deliver military communications through a satellite-based router.

Potential nonmilitary benefits of the IRIS program include the ability to route IP (Internet Protocol) traffic between satellites in space in much the same way packets are moved on the ground, reducing delays, saving on capacity and offering greater networking flexibility.

Sanyo Electric said it is set to book a loss of 2.04 billion yen ($17 million) in its earnings for the year that just ended to cover part of the cost to recall mobile phone batteries.

NTT DoCoMo, Japan’s top mobile phone operator, said in December it would recall 1.3 million cellphone batteries made by a Sanyo subsidiary because they may overheat and rupture.
