In a new interview with Bloomberg, Palm CEO Ed Colligan has again downplayed the prospect of a takeover bid and said that the company is focused on being a successful stand-alone business.

The article also delves into Palm’s plans to standardize its Treo production, in order to accelerate the development of new devices and cut costs. Potentially, says Colligan, this could slash development times from two years to nine months. He says new devices built using this method will appear this year, almost certainly referring to the rumored Treo 755p.

MobilitySite confirms the news this morning that the final remaining Dell PDA model, the Axim x51, has been discontinued. Indeed, the x51 appears to be no longer available for ordering from Dell’s web site or telephone sales department.

SanDisk and Yahoo will now make beautiful music together. Sandisk announced that it will partner with the Yahoo Music service for its new Sansa Connect Wi-Fi-enabled MP3 player. Sansa Connect owners can use either the free Yahoo service, or sign up for the subscription-based one–in either case without having to use a PC to load up music.

SanDisk’s new Sansa Connect, at 15.2 ounces, sports 4 GB of flash storage, a microSD slot for expansion, a 2.2-inch TFT color screen, and an internal speaker. The Sansa Connect, which analysts are calling a new breed of MP3 player, can handle several music file formats, including both protected and unprotected MP3 and Windows Media Audio. The Sansa Connect is available now in the U.S. and retails for $250.

A federal appeals court granted Vonage a temporary reprieve late Friday from an injunction granted earlier in the day that would have prevented the Internet phone provider from signing up new customers.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, which hears patent disputes in Washington, D.C., blocked the injunction from taking effect until the judges were able to consider arguments in the patent case brought by Verizon Communications.

Seventy five percent of people questioned in a survey by Yahoo! HotJobs said they used their wireless devices equally for work and personal reasons.

Nearly 30 percent were so attached to them they only switched them off while sleeping.
