DirectX Platform Adaptation Kit

Microsoft introduced its new DirectX Platform Adaptation Kit (DXPAK) for the Windows CE operating system. This new DXPAK enables OEMs to create Windows CE-based devices that take advantage of the latest multimedia capabilities, including accelerated graphics, and streaming audio and video with full playback capabilities, delivered via the Web to applications ranging from game consoles and set-top terminals to factory-floor HMI devices.

CNN has this article on Palm recently announced agreement with Sun Microsystems and the Sun-Netscape Alliance. According to the article, the Sun-Netscape Alliance will add support for Palm Web clipping and Palm OS devices to the iPlanet Wireless Server.

Peregrine Systems announced the release of ServiceCenter Connect.It! for the Palm Computing platform. The ServiceCenter Connect.It! product allows mobile technicians to download problem tickets and other ServiceCenter information to their handheld devices, update the information in the field and re-synchronize the information with ServiceCenter.

While it’s not directly on subject, virtually all of our readers are gadget freaks and we just found RemoteCentral.com, a site dedicated to nothing but high-end remote controls. For all of us with DVD fetishes, collections of 30 remotes that we actually use each day, and enough disposable income to spend hundreds of dollars on silly plastic and electronic toys, this is one cool site. –DG
