The four new products introduced are w-Messaging, w-Mail, w-Chat and w-Meeting, all of which work on Palm III, Palm IIIx, Palm V, Palm Vx and Palm VII and Windows CE-based devices.

JP Systems announced that it has expanded its business around a mobile application service provider (ASP) model. As a mobile ASP, the company offers wireless data solutions for carriers and enterprises and wirelessly enabled applications for business-to-business ASPs.

Microsoft President and CEO Steve Ballamer announced that Microsoft will develop a device that will combine the functions of a two-way pager, PDA, and notebook. InfoWorld reports that this device is in the early stages of development and is at least two years away.

ZDNet reports that 3Com will sell its analog modem business to a joint venture being formed with Taiwan-based Accton Technology and Singapore-based NatSteel Electronics. The company wil also leave core systems for corporate networks to focus on Internet Protocol telephony, broadband, wireless and Web-based products.
