
AvantGo announced that the AvantGo mobile Internet service is now available for the Apple Macintosh platform for free via download. AvantGo now enables Macintosh users with Palm devices to access the Web directly from their mobile devices or select from over 350 content channels that have been optimized for mobile devices.

Sage Software announced the availability of versions of Intellisol Xpede, a Web-based application for capturing project information, and Intellisol Project Accounting. With Intellisol Xpede, you can enter project information on a real-time basis via the Internet, intranet and/or palm-size PCs, powered by Microsoft Windows CE.

V-ONE Corporation announced a new version of its SmartGate for Windows CE product for securing Microsoft’s Windows CE Operating System for handheld and palm-sized PCs. Version 3.5 of SmartGate’s client software component, SmartPass, now enables V-ONE’s On-Line Registration (OLR) system for deployments to enroll clients on Windows CE devices in wireless mode.

WorldBestBuy.com announced that it’s adding a new Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) capability which will enable customers to access the WorldBestBuy.com site from a cell phone or other wireless devices.

Here’s Microsoft’s press release on the launch of the Pocket PC. On April 19, Microsoft and its partners will launch the Pocket PC in New York, with a same-day European launch event in London.

News.com reports that Micorsoft and Texas Instruments have formed a partnership to develop software capabilities for wireless handheld devices. According to the report, Microsoft said it will be using TI’s programmable digital signal processors (DSP) to enhance the performance of the Windows CE operating system.
