
Aether Software and Sybase announced that Sybase has developed a ScoutSync conduit, now available in Sybase SQL Anywhere Studio 7.0. The joint technology solution is for the Palm Computing platform and Windows CE.

MobilePlanet announced that its online shopping services will now be available for access on Palm devices and SmartPhones by using Everypath’s mobilization technology. Partnering with Everypath enables MobilePlanet to extend its current online mobile shopping service, ShopAnywhere, to customers using a Palm Connected Organizer or Windows CE-based handheld device.

BSQUARE Corporation unveiled two new service packages to speed the development of intelligent devices based on the Microsoft Windows CE or Windows NT Embedded operating systems. The Project Planner for Windows CE includes technical education and project consulting to eliminate lengthy start-up times and strategic design mistakes. Project Accelerator for Embedded Windows, designed for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) already engaged in developing a device, provides a way to outsource the development of a critical piece of technology.

ZDNet has this report on Microsoft’s reaction to Judge Jackson’s ruling in its antitrust case. Microsoft said it would appeal a judge’s ruling that the company violated U.S. antitrust law.

U.S. District Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson ruled in his “conclusions of law” yesterday that Microsoft broke antitrust laws. News.com reports that the verdict is the second step of a three-stage process. In November, Jackson issued what he considered the facts in the case. The conclusions of law decision applied those facts to antitrust laws. As early as this summer, Jackson is expected to issue a final ruling that will include the remedies or penalties to be imposed on Microsoft.

Odyssey Software released Version 3.1 of its CEfusion data access tools and infrastructure for devices powered by Microsoft Windows CE. CEfusion 3.1 supports Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes data, as well as other non-relational data stores.

Wyse Technology introduced the Wyse Winterm 3200LE Windows-based terminal. The Wyse Winterm 3200LE is based on Microsoft’s Windows CE, and supports connectivity through Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Protocol and Citrix Systems’ ICA technology to connect to Windows 2000 Server with Terminal Services enabled, Windows NT 4.0, Terminal Server Edition or Citrix MetaFrame servers via 10/100Base-T Ethernet connection.

IBM today announced SNAPP, a Web-based application that allows customers to configure and manage an RS/6000 B50 server with handheld computers based on the Palm Computing platform.

WirelessMD and iScribe announced an exclusive three-year partnership and co-marketing agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, WirelessMD and iScribe will jointly market the new integrated system, which will feature iScribe’s electronic prescription writing and renewal software on WirelessMD’s two-way interactive wireless platforms (including but not limited to the Motorola PageWriter 2000x interactive pager and the Handspring Visor PDA). The first systems will be functional by June 2000, with a complete installation of a minimum of 15,000 systems to physician users by the end of the contract period.
