Wood overlays for Palm and Visor

Mobile Generation Software announced the GoStyle line of wood overlays for the Palm and Visor. The GoStyle wood overlays are designed specifically for the Palm III, IIIe, IIIx, IIIxe, IIIc, V, Vx, VII, and Handspring Visor. They’re available in four standard wood finishes including cherry, maple, walnut, and mahogany. The GoStyle wood overlay kit includes the wood trim for the face of the Palm or Visor and the front of the cradle.

GoAmerica upgrade

GoAmerica Communications announced an upgrade of its Go.Web technology on Palm and Windows CE devices. The Palm client allows you to read normally unsupported Microsoft Word documents sent as file attachments to email. The Windows CE client allows you to change the image quality of graphics for frequently accessed Web pages in order to improve the speed of access.

MobilePro 880 available

NEC Computers announced the MobilePro 880 Handheld PC Professional. The new MobilePro 880 offers increased processing speed over previous models and a new suite of enterprise oriented utilities and applications software. With Extended Systems XTNDConnect Client for Windows CE the MobilePro 880 connects to Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes. It’s now available for approximately $949.

COBRA-based e*ORB

Vertel Corporation announced that an optimized version of its CORBA-based, e*ORB software has been released to allow applications to be developed on handheld devices using the Palm OS. e*ORB software will allow you to use standards-based CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) protocols to access your corporate intranet, retrieve documents from the network and check and send email. In addition to Palm OS, e*ORB software can be embedded in Windows CE and EPOC from Symbian.

RIM 957 wireless device

Research In Motion introduced a palm-sized wireless handheld with integrated support for wireless email, Internet, paging and organizer features. The RIM 957 Wireless Handheld is for mobile users and incorporates a 32-bit Intel 386 processor, 5MB Intel flash memory, keyboard, embedded wireless modem, integrated organizer and support for the BlackBerry wireless email solution. RIM also announced plans for Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) support on RIM Wireless Handhelds and Lotus Notes support for BlackBerry wireless email.
