Microsoft reacts

ZDNet has this report on Microsoft’s reaction to Judge Jackson’s ruling in its antitrust case. Microsoft said it would appeal a judge’s ruling that the company violated U.S. antitrust law.

The verdict is in

U.S. District Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson ruled in his “conclusions of law” yesterday that Microsoft broke antitrust laws. News.com reports that the verdict is the second step of a three-stage process. In November, Jackson issued what he considered the facts in the case. The conclusions of law decision applied those facts to antitrust laws. As early as this summer, Jackson is expected to issue a final ruling that will include the remedies or penalties to be imposed on Microsoft.

Red Mercury announced the release of Atom Smash. The action game includes 64 levels of play, downloadable LevelPaks, and a 30 day free trial. Atom Smash may be downloaded from Red Mercury and major Palm OS software sites.

PalmGear H.Q., Pimlico

PalmGear H.Q. announced that it has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Pimlico Software, developers of the Datebk3 and WeekView applications. PalmGear H.Q. will be the exclusive sales and front-line support outlet for these two software programs.

Wireless agreement

Micorsoft, AT&T, and British Telecommunications will work together on wireless Internet services. News.com reports that the services they will develop could be used on AT&T’s and BT’s existing networks as well as their planned high-speed systems for future wireless data.

Flash 5 on handhelds

PC World reports that Macromedia’s Flash 5 was previewed at the Flashforward2000 user conference. The article says that Flash players support the Liberate Web TV and Windows CE devices, with support for Symbian, Palm devices, and Web phones in the works. Flash 5 is expected to be available in June.

Handspring, Inc. announced that it has filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for an initial public offering of its Common Stock. All the shares will be offered by Handspring.
