AlphaConnect to Palm

Alpha Microsystems said it is tailoring its AlphaCONNECT technologies to be compatible with the Palm Computing and Windows CE handheld computing devices. AlphaCONNECT technologies use intelligent agents to interchange data between various computing systems and formats and are capable of acquiring and manipulating information from the Internet.

Hook up to iMac

Keyspan announced a new USB serial adapter specifically designed for users of PalmPilot and Palm III connected organizers. The Keyspan USB PDA Adapter provides a way to connect Palm organizers to Apple Computer’s iMac and to Apple’s new Blue G3 PowerMacs. The new adapter will be released in late March and will have a list price under $40.

IP remote support

PC Week reports that IBM extended its IP Remote Access Service to support Palm Computing connected organizers and the devices that run on the Windows CE operating system, including directory listings for all of IBM Global Services’ 1,300 worldwide dial points of presence.

UnwiredContact

Practical Sales Tools Inc. unveiled UnwiredContact, which provides an interactive, wireless data interface between popular contact-management programs and portable devices, such as Web-enables smart phones, pagers, palmtops and handheld PCs. UnwiredContact is currently available for Symantec’s ACT! and the SalesLogix Sales Information System, which enable corporations to leverage their existing contact-management investments while providing mobile professionals with practical, wireless, handheld solutions that require no data synchronization.

New accessories include the Palm V modem, a snap-on 33.6-kbps modem for $169, and Palm V Travel, a bundle with HotSync cable and AC/DC for $49.95. The Palm IIIx will have an estimated retail price of $369.
