Hewlett-Packard announced the release of JetSend for Pocket PC. It provides users with what HP is calling a simple, fast, and convenient way to exchange information between mobile devices. The software debuted with the HP Jornada 540 Series Color Pocket PC, and it can be downloaded for use with all Pocket PC-powered devices.

The Sony Corporation has chosen Psion’s Symbian operating platform for its line of mobile computing devices. Shares for the UK handheld computer manufacturer rose almost ten percent when news came out that Sony had picked Psion over the likes of Microsoft’s Windows CE and the Palm OS.

Officials at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory are calling the Palm VII personal organizer a potential security threat. Security officers believe the device would make it easier for spies to copy and transmit guarded information. Lab officials are banning the device under the Department of Energy’s Technical Surveillance Countermeasures directives.
