
CNET has a Reuters article saying Palm’s chief executive, Carl Yankowski, said that the company needs to be more aggressive in selling to corporate customers. According to the article, Yankowski outlined a number of moves that Palm will make in the coming months. These include enhancing Palm’s operating system to handle Microsoft’s Office software, tapping a group of corporate partners to sell Palm handhelds while they are pitching their own, and working with SAP and PricewaterhouseCoopers to develop corporate-specific applications for Palm handheld devices.

Motorola has teamed up with Webhelp, a developer of technology and service offerings for online communication solutions, to offer individuals access to all information on the Web. Webhelp’s mCRM Zero Latency Platform and customer support capabilities, and the Motorola iSKETCH compression technology allow for interactive, instant responses to queries made via the Palm OS device.
With Motorola’s proprietary iSKETCH compression technology, users write or draw requests for information in their own handwriting directly onto their PDA screen using a stylus. Those requests are then sent as an instant message to Webhelp, where a Web based support agent receives the request and responds–sending answers to the Palm handheld in the form of dynamic multi-media messages.

CNET News.com reports a lawsuit filed in a California court asserts that Palm handheld computers have damaged some desktop computers when people synchronize the devices to their PCs. The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in San Francisco County Superior Court, claimed the function that allows people to synchronize the data of the mobile device to their PCs “damages or destroys the motherboards on certain PC brands.” Which Palm models and what kinds of PCs were not specified.

iambic has released iambic Mail 2.0, an email solution for Palm OS devices designed to allow you to send and receive as well as write and edit emails in a mobile environment.

XcelleNet, Inc. and InstallShield Software Corp. announced an OEM agreement to incorporate Installshield Tuner OEM Edition with XcelleNet’s Afaria and RemoteWare solutions. As a result, systems administrators will be able to customize Microsoft Windows Installer-based software installations to remote and mobile computers.

Wireless NewsFactor also has an article on the Gartner Dataquest report that shipments of PDAs worldwide in the second quarter totaled 2.8 million, falling 21 percent from the 3.6 million shipped in the first quarter.
