
Sprint and Microsoft Corp. announced plans to offer two new PCS Phones based on the Microsoft Windows Powered Pocket PC platform. Sprint will offer two PCS Phones based on the CDMA version of the Microsoft Pocket PC software in the second quarter of 2003 including the PCS Phone by Samsung SPH-i700 and PCS Phone by Hitachi G1000. Both Windows Powered Vision Capable PCS Devices will combine the functionality of a PCS Phone, Pocket PC, and integrated digital camera.

Research In Motion Limited (RIM) reported fourth quarter and fiscal year end results for the period ended March 1, 2003 (all figures in U.S. dollars and Canadian GAAP). Revenue for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2003 was $87.5 million, an increase of 18% from $74.2 million in the previous quarter. The revenue breakdown for the quarter was approximately 46% for handhelds, 41% for service, 6% for software licences, and 7% for OEM radios and other revenue. Revenue for the fiscal year 2003 was $306.7 million versus $294.1 million in the prior year.

SnapGear Inc. has announced the first MTD (Memory Technology Device subsystem) Linux driver support for the M-Systems Millennium Plus family of DiskOnChip flash devices. The driver support now makes it possible for Linux developers to take advantage of M-Systems’ DiskOnChip technology. Specifically, the solution brings driver support for M-Systems INFTL (Inverse NAND Flash Translation Layer). DiskOnChip offers flash code and data storage ranging from 8MB up to 1GB in size, making flash memory appear as a standard hard disk, and provide safe flash memory writes.

Neoware Systems reported preliminary operating results for the fiscal third quarter ended March 31, 2003 and provided a preliminary revenue outlook for its fiscal fourth quarter ending June 30, 2003. The Company also announced that it intends to release earnings for the quarter ended March 31, 2003 on April 29, 2003 after the close of the market. The Company noted that, based upon preliminary estimates, revenues for the quarter ended March 31, 2003 are expected to exceed $13.3 million, an increase of more than 59% from the prior year quarter. Gross margins for the quarter are expected to exceed management guidance of 40% to 42%. The Company expects to report income from operations in excess of $2 million for the quarter. In addition, the Company expects to report a non-operating impairment charge of $300,000 from an investment in Boundless Corporation in June 2000 related to the Company’s purchase of the Capio product line, as a result of Boundless’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, and a provision for income taxes of approximately 36%. The Company also expects to report an increase in cash in excess of $2 million for the quarter and expects to report more than $26 million in cash at the end of the quarter.

Best Software announced ACT! Link for Pocket PC, which enables ACT! users to synchronize their contact data to their Pocket PC device. ACT! data is synchronized with Pocket Outlook so users always have access to their contacts, calendars, to-do items, and notes and histories on each contact record when they are away from their desk or out of the office.

iVoice, Inc. announced a new hands-free feature to its Speech Enabled Auto Attendant that allows an outbound caller the ability to speak the number they wish to dial. iVoice has incorporated an automatic dialing module into their Speech Enabled Auto Attendant which provides the ability to make an outbound call by speaking the digits of the telephone number. Once logged into The Speech Enabled Auto Attendant, an outbound caller in your organization simply says “Dial” then a password followed by the number to be called. The significance is that there is no pre-programmed list of contacts to set-up, maintain, or select from.
