
RealNetworks, Inc. and Palm, Inc. announced a strategic alliance that will enable consumers to use their Palm Tungsten T handhelds as digital audio players. RealOne Player Mobile, which is based on the Helix platform, will deliver audio multimedia playback and storage for both RealAudio and MP3 files on Palm’s newest handheld, enabling users to play and store music.

Chapura, Inc. announced the release of KeyContacts 1.2 software, which has been updated for easier access to key contact information on the handheld. Additions include: KeyContacts 1.2 takes advantage of the jog wheel feature that is on a number of Palm OS handhelds, customers can now choose between the KeyContacts Smart Look Up feature (searching in First name, Last Name, Company Name and File As fields simultaneously) and the Standard Look Up feature from the built-in Palm Address Book (searching only in the first field displayed per record), and the ability to access the category manager from the Contact View screen makes viewing and editing contact categories faster and easier than tapping all the way into the Contact Edit screen, as required in the Palm Address Book.

Hexacto released Lemonade Tycoon for Palm OS. Following the success of Lemonade Inc. on the Pocket PC platform, Hexacto introduced a Palm OS version of the strategy game. Lemonade Tycoon for Palm features all the same intelligent gameplay, colorful animated graphics, and humorous twists from the Pocket PC version. Lemonade Tycoon is a business simulation/strategy title.

Saunders has announced the introduction of three new categories of RhinoSkin brand cases in their product line: Smart Phones, Wireless email devices, and Web Tablets.

DreamQuest Software will conduct the world’s first-ever wireless card game tournament. The tournament will begin at 4 p.m. PST in DreamQuest Software’s free Internet lobby. Entrants will play either DreamQuest Software’s Championship Hearts or Championship Spades. Competitors will challenge each other for prizes donated from Nokia, Handango, and others. The Grand Prize winner will receive a Nokia 9290 Communicator.

Softtrends has announced the immediate availability of ExpoAgenda for Palm OS, an independant guide and event planner for Fall COMDEX trade show starting on November 17, 2002. ExpoAgenda comes configured with events and booth information for the trade show and users can add additional events. Event types supported are as specified by the event organizers and in addition, meeting and party event types are also included.

Motorola and Metrowerks, a Motorola company, are providing a complete curriculum to teach software developers, of any skill level, to write software for Motorola’s Java technology-enabled mobile phones. The courses, which are being offered online at the new Motorola Developer Learning Center, include self-paced training materials and are mentored.
