CallerID method beats phishers

WholeSecurity has teamed up with auction provider eBay to announce a new technology that automatically sniffs out sites that could house so-called “phishing” attacks. On Monday, WholeSecurity launched Web CallerID, a detection, protection and management package that has been integrated into eBay’s online toolbar.

Video-streaming cell phone

Sprint is debuting a faster video-streaming cell phone from Samsung. With picture quality of 15 frames per second, the phone brings Sprint’s MobiTV services, introduced last November, closer to traditional TV quality of 30 frames per second.

Documents To Go 7

DataViz announced Documents To Go version 7. This new version adds support for viewing native PowerPoint files, and for using PowerPoint files from Macs. DataViz also is introducing a new edition of Documents To Go, Documents To Go Total Office Edition. Documents To Go Total Office Edition is a comprehensive office suite available for Palm OS handhelds, including support for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, and picture files, as well as Outlook data and Access databases.

PDA developers uniting

Several PDA developers are banding together due to what they see as unreasonable rate hikes by the companies behind PalmGear, PocketGear, Smartphone.net and other ESD (Electronic Sales Distributors) sites. It’s claimed that these sites have a virtual monopoly on handheld software distribution and have used this monopoly to unfairly raise the rates they charge developers, thereby decreasing the actual revenue a developer receives from shareware/commercial sales of their products.

Blue tooth implant

Industrial design firm Creganna has submitted a prototype to the IDSA “Untethered Body” design contest. The device, called the dDrive, is a Bluetooth enabled 512 MB hard drive that can be implanted as a tooth. The Bluetooth enabled hard rive allows an individual to store critical personal information that can be accessed by any other Bluetooth enabled device.
