A little under one-third of U.S. households have no Internet access and do not plan to get it, with most of the holdouts seeing little use for it in their lives, according to a survey released Friday.

Park Associates, a Dallas-based technology market research firm, said 29 percent of U.S. households, or 31 million homes, do not have Internet access and do not intend to subscribe to an Internet service over the next 12 months.

The software cannot be uninstalled without a user selected password. If the device is ever lost, simply send a SMS from a previously specified “partner” phone and you can have the device locked. You can also go one step further, and send a “wipe” text message that will erase the entire contents of the phone, including everything on the memory card.

Eventually, everyone has to do it… a full system re-install. It’s a horrible task, but if you look hard enough, you may just find some hidden gold.

Virgin Mobile USA said it has agreed to make Yahoo’s mobile services available to more than 4.6 million wireless customers.

Starting in early April, Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Messenger can be downloaded onto several Virgin Mobile handsets, and the applications will be preloaded on select phones in the future, Virgin Mobile said.

The two companies will make additional mobile services from Yahoo available on Virgin Mobile handsets in the coming months, including a range of SMS services such as search and messaging.

Symantec is preparing to launch a mobile-security suite for Windows Mobile devices that it says will offer the same level of security for handhelds as is standard for PCs.

Symantec Mobile Security Suite 5.0, due in May, is set to include antivirus, data encryption and firewall protection, as well as an enterprise management console for IT administrators, the security company said in a statement Monday. It will add to the functionality of the company’s current Mobile AntiVirus product.

SanDisk expanded its Memory Stick Micro (M2) line by introducing a 4GB card. With the capacity to hold up to 1,000 songs, 2,000 high-resolution photos or 20 hours of MPEG4 video, the 4GB M2 is compatible with Sony Ericsson’s latest generation of slim line, multimedia mobile handsets such as the Cyber-shot and Walkman series.
