Over the weekend, Palm released a software update to correct a bug in the password protection feature of three Palm platform (Garnet OS) Treos, the Treo 650, 680 and 700p.

According to Palm, when password protection is enabled, it can be partially circumvented by running the Find feature while on the “Make Emergency Call” screen.

Toshiba Information Systems announced the launch of its Lapjacks service, which enables laptop owners to design an entirely original, customized cover for their laptop. The Web site allows customers to choose from thousands of high quality images, upload their own digital photographs or even create an original design and submit it for production. CommonTime, a leading company for extending IBM Lotus Notes to smartphones and PDA announces that Windows Mobile 6, through it’s mSuite software, will support IBM Lotus Notes functionality.

Stevens, who says he works for Contraste Europe, a branch of the IT consultancy The Contraste Group, has been running his Google Adwords campaign for six months now and has received 409 hits. Stevens has done similar research in the past, such as finding out how easy it is to land on a drive-by download site when doing a Google search.

Linux/Java has topped CEO Ed Zander’s list of things to look for from Motorola as it attempts a financial turnaround. At a New York press conference, Zander introduced Linux-based Rokr and Razr2 models, along with new top-level executives.

Zander opened the conference by introducing a new CFO, and new VPs of products and sales. He said the company is working to reset its strategy, prioritize its markets and technology investments, and “put the ‘Wow’ back” into its devices.
