
Franklin Covey announced the availability of Franklin Planner for Microsoft Outlook, a new individual and enterprise solution that extends Microsoft Outlook to include the principles from Franklin Covey’s time and life management workshop, What Matters Most. Adding to Microsoft Outlook 98 and 2000, the software will include built-in synchronization to the Microsoft Windows CE platform for palm-sized PCs and 3Com’s Palm Computing platform.

Microsoft demonstrated Microsoft SQL Server for the Windows CE operating system. This event marks the fulfillment of Microsoft’s strategic goal to provide a SQL Server solution that extends from productivity appliances such as handheld, palm-size and embedded Windows CE-based devices up to the enterprise.

Compaq introduced the Aero 8000, Compaq’s first Handheld PC Professional (H/PC Pro) device and a mobile device which offers built-in Smart Card technology. The Aero 8000 weighs 2.9 pounds with a 10-inch SVGA screen, a keyboard 95 percent the size of standard portable keyboards and up to 13 hours of battery life.

Riverbed Technologies and Certicom jointly announced a licensing agreement to enable the secure exchange of mission-critical information between handheld devices and the enterprise. Under the terms of the agreement, Riverbed will incorporate Certicom’s SSL Plus for Embedded Systems with Scout MTS.
