
Homestead Technologies and AvantGo announced that they are enabling individuals to create and edit customized Web sites using handheld computers off-line or wirelessly in real-time. Using Pocket Homestead, a template-based version of Homestead’s Web publishing platform customized for AvantGo.com, individuals can build Web sites with a Palm OS or Windows CE-based device, and publish them to the Web with one click.

Greg Michetti of the Edmonton Sun has this article about IBM’s WorkPad z50, which is powered by an NEC MIPS 131 MHz processor, has 16 MB RAM, and 20 MB ROM. The WorkPad z50 is based on the Windows CE operating system.

ePhysician, an e-commerce network for the healthcare industry, introduced ePhysician 1.0, a PDA-based Internet solution for health professionals. As part of the launch, ePhysician will offer 10,000 free Palm handheld computers to selected clinicians who register at the ePhysician Web site and subscribe to the service. ePhysician 1.0 runs on the Palm OS and will be available nationally upon completion of final testing.

In March, Microsoft and Philips, Casio, Compaq Computer, Hewlett-Packard, and Everex announced the next generation of palm-size PCs. News.com reports that most of these products have yet to ship due to a shortage of color displays.

BSQUARE software for Windows CE-based PC Companions is now available to resellers worldwide through a distribution agreement newly signed with industry leading distributor Tech Data Corporation. Beginning immediately, Tech Data will distribute BSQUARE’s bUSEFUL Utilities Pak and bPRODUCTIVE Essentials Pak for Windows CE-based Palm-size PC, Handheld PC, and Handheld PC Pro devices.
