Symantec Corporation announced it is shipping Mobile WinFax for Palm Computing devices. Mobile WinFax enables mobile professionals to send, receive, edit, and manage faxes directly from their Palm Computing devices.

Certicom, Actual development deal

Certicom and Actual Software announced that the two companies will develop and market technology that enables the secure synchronization of e-mail from corporate e-mail servers to handheld computers. Palm Computing or Windows CE-based handheld devices can now be used as secure enterprise e-mail clients. Actual Software’s MultiMail PRO messaging software combined with Certicom’s SSL security technology enables users to securely transfer messages from any IMAP4 enterprise e-mail server over a CDPD wireless network connection or a traditional phone line.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking Mobile Organizer includes Dragon NaturallySpeaking Preferred speech recognition software supports Palm desktop, Lotus Notes, and GoldMine.

Varadero SDK

Abaco that it has created a software development kit, code-named Varadero, that enables rapid development of Windows CE-based thin-client applications that operate over a wireless LAN. Varadero is built on open industry standards using component objects that can be used with application development tools like Microsoft Visual Basic.

BSQUARE Corporation released its e-commerce driver library today, named CE Xpress OnDemand. CE Xpress OnDemand is a new subscription service for the purchase and download of portable device drivers. HPC Notes 3.0

PhatWare Corporation announced HPC Notes 3.0, a new version of its notes organizer for Microsoft Windows CE. HPC Notes allows users to create notes and organize them by type, subject, creation and modification date. HPC Notes provides text search, document security, and email capabilities directly from the note editor.

Check your Gaydar

Just in time for Pride parades all over the U.S., Drunken Monkeys released Gaydar, a gay-oriented application made for Palm organizers. Gaydar resembles a prop from a science fiction film that scans a person’s thoughts and physical makeup to determine their sexual orientation. Gaydar, the inherent ability to detect the sexual orientation of another person, has been a treasured talent among the gay community. Unfortunately, some have trouble developing this mental skill, and haven’t been able to reap all of its benefits. Now the power of Gaydar is available to anyone with a Palm computer.
