BarPoint.com has partnered with JP Systems’ InfoBeam for the timely delivery of product pricing, purchase and other information over wireless communications devices in a service to debut this fall. This partnership allows mobile users to type or scan product UPC barcodes into a handheld device to wirelessly access BarPoint.com. The 12-digit UPC code can be entered manually on standard Palm OS and Windows CE devices, or can be scanned in handheld devices such as the SPT 1500 manufactured by Symbol Technologies.

Puma gets smart

Nettech Systems and Puma Technology announced a strategic alliance where Puma will use Nettech’s Smart IP middleware to add support for a broad range of wireless networks. This support will extend the wireless capabilities of Puma’s Intellisync Anywhere product line. The open Intellisync platform lets users synchronize data between both wired and wireless handheld devices and the information found in corporate databases.
