BarPoint.com acquires Synergy

BarPoint.com announced it has acquired Synergy Solutions. Synergy Solutions has focused on building commercial applications for Palm Computing devices. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of BarPoint, Synergy Solutions will drive the development of handheld applications and mobile e-commerce solutions.

Sony, Palm deal

Palm Computing and Sony announced an agreement to expand the capabilities of the Palm Computing platform and create a next generation platform for handheld consumer electronics products with audio-visual (AV) functionality. Under the terms of the agreement, Sony licenses the Palm OS operating system and Palm Computing will support Sony’s Memory Stick storage and data exchange technology as part of the Palm Computing platform.

Scanner SDK released

Socket Communications announced the release of Socket’s Scanner SDK, a Software Developers Kit that helps build bar code scanning applications for mobile computers powered by Microsoft’s Windows CE operating system. The SDK supports Socket’s entire line of Battery Friendly plug-in cards that connect bar code laser scanners to Windows CE-based Palm-size PCs, Handheld PCs or pen tablets.

Enotate announced

The San Francisco Chronicle has an article on new software called Enotate. Enotate, which will be available next month, lets you add handwritten markings and comments only to Microsoft Word and PowerPoint documents and to digital photos in the industry-standard JPEG format.

Homes.com on AvantGo

Homes.com has announced that it’s teaming with AvantGo to bring the Homes.com Web portal to users of handheld devices. Called Homes.com ToGo!, the Homes.com application and real estate channel will work on all Palm Computing devices and Windows CE-based handheld devices.
