PocketTV available

MpegTV announces PocketTV, a MPEG movie viewer for Windows CE Palm-size and Handheld PCs. PocketTV is capable of playing movie files encoded in the standard MPEG-1 format (extension .mpg). PocketTV is available for MIPS, SH3, SH4 and ARM Palm-size and Handheld PCs running WinCE version 2.0, 2.01 and 2.11, and upcoming Windows CE 3.0 Windows Powered Pocket PC.

Visor coming to Japan

Handspring co-founder Donna Dubinsky said that Handspring is set to enter the Japanese market with a localized version of Visor. News.com reports that the localized version will be out sometime next quarter.

Email on Pocket PC

News.com reports that the next version of Windows CE will include new email features that will let you download email directly from your provider and will support file attachments.

Pocket Word, Excel

Microsoft announced that the Pocket PC will ship with versions of Word and Excel. According to ZDNet, a file created on a desktop PC can be viewed, edited and saved by the devices without having to go through a translator.

Domino access on Pocket PC

Microsoft unveiled new features of the Pocket PC, including pocket versions of Outlook Inbox, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Pocket Inbox for Pocket PCs, which are expected to be available from hardware manufacturers in the next 90 days, will enable access to Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino.
