Oh man, I just laughed so hard I nearly hurt myself. Just so you know, your editor-in-chief writing is this note, so don’t go blaming news editor Heather for straying from the professional course (yes, this is what happens when the boss has the password to the news page). In any case, I nearly fell on the floor laughing. I just pictured George W. sittin’ there all slack jawed, and Al Gore sitting there all stiff and serious and I realized that these two men are going to debate each other. On TV. Over and over. And I just couldn’t stop laughing. Now, don’t get me wrong, I do have partisan leanings which I’m not going to foist upon you (save, I didn’t choose my party… the other guys just told me and lots of my friends that we weren’t welcome). I’m not writing this to convince you to look one way or the other. But these two fellows are going to debate each other. I mean, I knew George Bush. I saw him on TV. And George W. is no George Bush. It just so amuses me. Granted, it’s not as funny as if Gary Bauer were going to debate Elizabeth Dole or Hillary was going to debate Rudy Guliani…oh, wait. Rudy and Hillary probably will debate. Folks, this is just gonna be a fun year for us politics junkies. It’s going to be a real kick. (And now, back to our regularly scheduled news items.) — DG
