TeleType GPS has announced the release of TeleType GPS v052000 for the Pocket PC. Its features include Pocket PC support in Native mode, better support for Windows NT and Windows 2000, fleet tracking enhancements, and voice and visual display for routing via the Internet.

iMobile Suite upgrades

Synchrologic, Inc. announced upgrades to its iMobile Suite, used for managing Palm OS-based handhelds and smartphones, Pocket PCs, and laptops. iMobile File Distribution 3.0 provides automatic delivery of content and files to mobile and wireless devices, and can retrieve files from mobile devices for redistribution within the mobile network, or for backup to enterprise servers.

iPaq bids high

CNET News reports that Compaq’s iPaq Pocket PC is selling at online auctions for hundreds of dollars over the retail price. The iPaq is selling for $700 and $800 on eBay and Amazon.com auctions, despite the estimated retail price of $499. Nora Hahn, a spokeswoman for Compaq, is quoted as saying, “The demand has just been overwhelming for this product. We’re behind the curve.” She claims to have seen iPaq prices as high as $1,000 on eBay.

ZapIt!

PDA Resources has announced the availability of ZapIt! for the Pocket PC. The software allows users to quickly close the currently active task on the Pocket PC. ZapIt! is designed so that it doesn’t run in the background and doesn’t take up CPU cycles as a result.

Report CE printing tool

SYWARE Inc. announced the release of a reporting and printing tool called Report CE for the Pocket PC. It allows users to create and print custom reports from any Pocket PC device. In addition to traditional reports, the software can be used to print invoices, quotes, and customer receipts.

Extended warranty program

Palm is launching an extended warranty program for Palm handhelds. Consumers are now able protect their Palm brand products by choosing from two programs: a one-time screen repair during the first year, beginning at $29.99 and a one-year extension to the manufacturer’s warranty plus one-time screen repair, beginning at $39.99.
