
PC Magazine has this review of Casio’s Cassiopeia E-115. The E-115 has 16MB RAM, uses the same CPU as the Cassiopeia E-100 and E-105.

Ilium Software announced the release of seven commercial software programs for Windows-powered Pocket PCs. These applications are: eWallet, ListPro, Keep Track, Recordian, TapeMinder, GameBag One and PhoneTone. In addition, Ilium Software also released Pocket Wallet, a free viewer for eWallet files, and Tipster, a free tip and sales tax calculator, for the Pocket PC platform.

Here’s a review of HP’s Jornada 545 from PC Magazine. Jornada 545 uses a backlit, 64,000 color, 320-by-240 resolution CSTN display. While the Jornada 545 has 16MB RAM, HP plans to ship the Jornada 548, with 32MB RAM, in May.

Palm President Alan Kessler said in his Comdex keynote address that the company is committed to keeping its devices simple.

ZDNet’s Jesse Berst thinks that Microsoft got it right this time with the Pocket PC. He also says that although Microsoft has a good device, Palm shouldn’t be counted out.

SYWARE announced the release of Visual CE for the Pocket PC. Visual CE for the Pocket PC allows users to build their own databases and create custom forms. Available in Personal, Professional, or Enterprise Editions, the software is designed to support the new features available in Pocket PCs, including faster sync and connect speeds, high resolution screens, and 16-bit color.

Information Exchange (IED), a division of Inso Corporation, announced the availability of Quick View Plus and Outside In for the Windows-powered Pocket PC platform. Quick View Plus for the Windows-powered Pocket PC is a stand-alone application that enables users of Pocket PCs to view documents received via email and desktop synchronization. Outside In is delivered to software developers working within the Pocket PC environment as a C API to integrate document viewing capabilities into portal, knowledge management or customized messaging programs for Pocket PC devices.

Puma Technology announced that it will extend its line of Intellisync synchronization solutions to support Windows-powered Pocket PCs. Puma’s Intellisync software will provide users of Pocket PCs with complete synchronization support of email, calendar, contact and task data for Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Exchange and other PC-based PIMs. Intellisync supports Lotus Notes versions 4.5 and 4.6, and Lotus Organizer versions 2.12, 97, GS, 4.1, and 5.0.
