iPAQ product line repositioning

ZDNet reports Compaq Computer Corp. will announce a repositioning of its iPAQ line of products. According to the article, the focus of the product line will shift toward smaller, non-PC devices allowing users to access the Internet in a variety of different ways in a variety of settings.

Action Names wins award

iambic Software announced its Action Names software, an advanced contact and schedule management application for the Palm OS, has won the 2000 Shareware Industry Award for Best Program/Utility for PDAs. Action Names integrates contacts, datebook scheduling, calendars, and to-dos in a single application.

Workouts to Go released

Yahoo has a press release announcing PTN Media has teamed up with NeoHand, Inc. to develop a series of applications for Palm OS devices, the first of which is Workouts to Go, a step-by-step guide to keeping fit while on the road. According to the press release, the application offers tips, advice, and workouts created by fitness experts.

MemorySafe protects data

Northstar Mobile has released MemorySafe for the Palm m100, Palm III, or Palm VII series. According to the product description, the module allows the user to back-up and access data stored on a Palm handheld, minimizing the impact of losing data, or worse, losing the entire Palm device.

Ben Waldman interview

Palm m100 uncannily small

Here’s yet another Palm m100 review, this time from BrightHand, saying the new devices is simply a Palm IIIe in different clothing. The review also remarks upon the fact that despite being more or less the same size as previous Palm device models, it does give the impression that it’s much smaller.

SPUG, the Singapore Palm Users Group, has a review of the Palm m100. According to the review, the device “looks more like a toy or a little fat calculator than a PDA.”

French and German Palm OS

TRGpro announced French and German language versions of Palm OS 3.5 are available for the company’s handheld computer. Both versions of the OS are available as free downloads from the TRGpro Web site.
