Handheld cartoon channel

Cartoonist Peter S. Conrad has signed an agreement with AvantGo, Inc. to distribute his single-panel cartoons as a channel on the AvantGo mobile Internet service beginning August 22. According to the press release, the channel is to be called Handheld Cartoons and will be the first handheld channel to offer a weekly cartoon feature.

According to the press release, the ZebraPass system is currently powered by smart cards and has been created for a seamless transition to Bluetooth-enabled wireless devices such as cell phones, PDAs, and other consumer appliances.

Handspring licenses Qualcomm

UpsideToday reports Handspring has announced it will license Qualcomm’s CDMA wireless technology standard for use in its Visor brand of handheld computers. According to the article, this is the first time Handspring has licensed a wireless standard.

USA Today has an article on the Palm m100 describing its features as well as Palm’s hopes the device will reach a younger market. The article also touches on the SmartPad from Seiko Instruments, a $199 device that lets you transfer handwritten notes and diagrams directly from paper into any Palm III series or later model.
