Karrier Communications announced its new IntelliGolf Tournament edition golf scoring software for Palm handhelds and compatibles. The new IntelliGolf Tournament edition software tabulates scores and wagers for golf tournaments and/or group golf outings consisting of 2 to 255 players on multiple Palm handhelds. Golfers can beam their IntelliGolf-created scorecard (using either the IntelliGolf Par or Birdie edition software) to a Tournament-enabled handheld as they return to the clubhouse. The Tournament edition software automatically creates a sorted Leader Board showing Net and Gross (i.e., handicap adjusted) scores and tabulates cross-group wagers.

SplashData has released SplashPhoto 2.5. The free update provides support for Palm m500 series SD cards. SplashPhoto images can be installed directly to an SD card using SplashPhoto Desktop or images can be moved to and from an SD card using the SplashPhoto viewer on a Palm OS handheld.

SystemLogic.net has done a review on the Handspring Visor Edge PDA. According to the review, not everything is perfect, but the Edge really comes close. It’s even faster than the Visor Platinum with the same processor.

Handmark, Inc. announced that its student application Four.Zero will soon have a Web-based companion. Handmark fourostudent.net is a Web-based service that mirrors the functionality found in the Four.Zero Palm OS based software.

Palm, Inc. has reported revenue of $165.3 million for its fourth quarter of fiscal 2001, ended June 1, 2001, exceeding the company’s revised guidance of $140 million to $160 million set on May 17. Palm reported revenue of $350.2 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2000.
Pro forma operating loss was $153.6 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2001. Pro forma operating loss excludes the effects of amortization of goodwill and intangible assets, purchased in-process technology, legal settlements, separation costs, and three additional charges recorded in the fourth quarter–an excess inventory charge, a restructuring charge, and an asset impairment charge. Palm had said earlier that it expected a fourth quarter pro forma operating loss between $170 million and $190 million. Palm’s pro forma operating income in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2000 was $13.4 million. Pro forma net loss was $89.2 million, or $0.16 per share, for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2001. This compares to pro forma net income of $17.2 million, or $0.03 per share, for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2000. Actual net loss for the fourth quarter was $392.1 million, or $0.69 per share, compared to net income of $12.4 million, or $0.02 per share, for the comparable quarter last year.
