Palm Infocenter has posted that Sony announced the Memory Stick Duo will be released in Japan in July. According to the posting, Duos are about a third the length of regular Memory Sticks, and the first ones will be 16 MB with larger capacities coming later.

The game now supports high-resolution-plus Palm OS handheld devices, including the latest Sony CLIE PEG-NR70 and NR70V series. Weblicon Technologies AG released Calmeno, a complete Messaging and Personal Information Management (PIM) system for small to medium enterprises. Calmeno provides mobile access and over-the-air synchronization for PDAs and SyncML-enabled mobile phones. Calmeno features wireless access to corporate email, calendar, contacts, and tasks. In contrast to Microsoft Exchange, Calmeno is based entirely on open industry standards such as IMAP, LDAP, and SyncML, runs on industry-strength UNIX operating systems, and supports Windows, Macintosh, and Linux clients.

Palm Infocenter posted that Palm has introduced a version of its Mini Keyboard for the m500 series. According to the posting, the keyboard is basically the same as the one for the i705 and is available now for $60.

ZapMed announced ZapCode now suports both versions of the HCFA E/M Guidelines. New ZapCode version 3.0 now can calculate E/M codes using either the 1997 or 1995 version of the HCFA Evaluation and Management Guidelines.

Pocket PC Films has inked a multi-year licensing deal with Generic Media to utilize their gMovie Player software to play feature films and programming on any Palm OS PDA, the two companies announced. Through the agreement, Generic Media’s gMovie Player software technology will be preloaded into every Pocket PC Films program sold on CD-ROM. The program will then load along with the feature film or other digital media onto a Palm OS device. The software then allows the user to view the program on their Palm OS device.

Palm, Inc. announced that fourth-quarter revenue will be approximately $230 million, compared with the previously expected $290 million to $300 million. In addition, the company said it will not meet its breakeven profitability expectations for the current quarter, which ends May 31, 2002. Despite a downturn in demand for handheld computers along with other technology products, Palm still expects to report operational performance in line with prior guidance. In addition, the share for Palm branded and Palm Powered handhelds in U.S. retail both grew over the last three months, and according to first-quarter 2002 worldwide data, both Palm branded device and Palm OS share are holding steady.
