
Astraware Limited announced the release of Gem Drop for high resolution Palm Powered handhelds. This gem matching game of skill is developed by Astraware from the Gamehouse Web based game of the same name and sees players matching falling gems into groups of three or more to evaporate the gems, all presented in high resolution 320×320 for Palm OS devices.

Best Software, makers of the contact manager ACT!, announced ACT! Link for Pocket PC. ACT! data is synchronized to Pocket Outlook, allowing ACT! users to view, edit, and update calendar items and activities, phone numbers, addresses, up to 20 notes and history items per contact record, and data in over 30 pre-defined fields. ACT! Link for Pocket PC integrates with ACT! 6.0 and is now available for $39.95.

iAnywhere Solutions, a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc., announced that My AvantGo software will be integrated into Windows Mobile 2003, the newest version of Microsoft software for Pocket PCs and Smartphones. These plans extend the companies’ long-term relationship and provide users of Windows Mobile software-based devices with out-of-the-box access to the My AvantGo service.

MobileSys Inc. announced a merger with mBlox Ltd, Europe’s leading SMS services provider, and the successful closing of $8 million (US) in venture capital and private equity to finance planned expansion. The round was led by Norwest Venture Partners and other participants included Novus Ventures, Duff Ackerman Goodrich and BA Venture Partners. The company will combine complimentary product offerings and global mobile messaging expertise from each organization, retain the mBlox name and maintain operations in London, Sunnyvale, and Hong Kong. mBlox will be led by MobileSys CEO Chip Hoffman, with mBlox CEO Andrew Bud serving as chairman and head of global operations.

Palm, Inc. reported revenues of $225.8 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2003, ended May 31, 2003, down 3.2 percent from the $233.3 million reported during the comparable quarter a year ago and up 8 percent sequentially. For the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2003, net loss, as measured by GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles), was $15.0 million, or $(0.51) per share. This net loss included restructuring charges of $2.0 million, which included costs of vacating real estate locations and severance payments, amortization of intangible assets of $0.4 million and separation costs associated with the pending spin-off of PalmSource of $3.8 million. This compares to a GAAP net loss for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2002 of $27.5 million or $(0.95) per share and a GAAP net loss for the third quarter of fiscal year 2003 of $172.3 million or $(5.93) per share.

Chapura, Inc. released a new, comprehensive software package called KeySuite, offering owners of Palm Powered handhelds a way to carry their most important information from Microsoft Outlook Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Notes. KeySuite’s four software components, KeyDates, KeyContacts, KeyTasks, and KeyNotes, are replacements for the built-in Palm OS applications.

Handspring, Inc. announced the availability of Treo 270 on the AT&T Wireless nationwide GSM/GPRS network. New and current AT&T Wireless customers can purchase Treo 270 for a starting price of $399, or for $249 when adding an optional AT&T Wireless Mobile Internet (GPRS data) plan to a voice plan. With Treo and the optional Wireless Mobile Internet plan, customers can browse the Web or with third party software, access existing personal or corporate email accounts.
