Web-to-Outlook or Palm utility

Wyncs Web Sync Solutions announced a recent addition to their “Web-to-Outlook or Palm” utility. Many Web sites have buttons that allow visitors to print a schedule, some offer a way to email it, but with this solution, it’s possible to place a “Sync the Schedule” link that instantly transfers the entire calendar to visitors’ Outlook or PDA software, with alarms and notes attached. The latest addition to the Web sync utility is the Wyncs Manager software. Wyncs Manager will create syncable links that contain multiple records of Events, Contact Info, Tasks, and Memos. Those records can be saved, opened, edited, and re-uploaded to licensed domains.

PalmSource and Novell agreement

PalmSource, Inc. and Novell announced an agreement to introduce and promote mobile messaging and resource management solutions Novell GroupWise and Novell ZENworks, along with solutions from Nexic Inc. and Notify Technology Corp. to Palm OS licensees. As part of the mobile GroupWise solution, PalmSource will make available a version of Nexic’s popular Synchronis for GroupWise to all Palm OS licensees for individual Palm Powered device use. Synchronis makes features found in the GroupWise Windows client available through a native GroupWise client designed for the Palm OS platform, and will allow mobile users to synchronize and use GroupWise seamlessly on their Palm Powered devices.

PalmSource and IBM are working together to provide the more than 270,000 registered Palm OS software developers with advanced tools to create powerful networked software programs that run on Palm Powered devices and enterprise servers, connected via wireless networks.

PalmSource and Visto co-marketing

PalmSource, Inc. and Visto Corp. announced that the companies will work together to build a standard enterprise-grade wireless email client for the Palm OS platform. PalmSource and Visto will co-market the new default messaging solution to Palm OS licensees and their wireless operators, which should result in easier integration with existing IT infrastructures.

Handspring introduces Treo 600

Handspring introduced a new design for its future smartphones that combines a fully integrated QWERTY keyboard with a smaller, more phone-like form factor. The design is the result of research and development focused on reducing size, maximizing the utility and ease of use of both phone and data functions, and minimizing trade-offs typically found in converged products. All products in the new series, to be called Treo 600, will combine a phone, a Palm OS 5-based organizer with messaging, email, and Web browsing features. The first Treo 600 products are expected this fall worldwide.

PhoneMagic released

Penticon released a new Palm OS application called PhoneMagic. PhoneMagic is an Address Book replacement application. PhoneMagic has the look and feel of the built-in Address Book, but adds many new features; Reminders, Pop-Ups, Virtual Links, Recent Numbers, Smart Lookup, and more. You can Pop-Up PhoneMagic without leaving the application that’s running, and once you’ve found the number that you want, you’re right back in the original application. Using Virtual Links, you can pop-up PhoneMagic and immediately open a specific record in your phone book. Each time you open PhoneMagic, the most Recent Numbers you looked up will always be displayed on your screen. Smart Lookup lets you look up numbers based on first name, last name, or company name, without needing to re-sort your address book.
