Weathernews announced that WOIO is joining the WNI Network through its “LiveLocal” Application. “LiveLocal” offers localized video content including weather, news, traffic and sports direct to subscriber cell phones with a growing network of local broadcast affiliates in major markets in one easy-to-use application. WOIO Cleveland’s Channel 19 is a CBS affiliate serving the Cleveland, Ohio television market. Mobile phone subscribers will now have access to WOIO’s local news, traffic, sports and weather video content on-demand from the WNI LiveLocal mobile application which is offered on major US wireless carriers to subscribers for $4.99 per month.

INDUSTRY Entertainment has recently released updated versions of two games: MONSTA and Jack BBQ for PalmOS devices. New versions bring new installation packages, contained in a single PRC file, that will automatically install required files on PalmOS device depending on OS version and screen resolution.

Not many people use their cell phone to buy movie tickets, watch videos or play games, but a significant number of Americans are interested in doing just that. That conclusion comes from a national study conducted last month by the Pew Research Center’s Pew Internet & American Life Project, the Associated Press and AOL. The survey found that 6 percent of cell phone users currently play music on their device, for example, while 19 percent wish their phone had that feature. A mere 2 percent watch mobile video or TV, but 14 percent said they would like to.

Microsoft’s Windows Vista will run on just about any PC available today, but it will only show its true colors on about half of them, according to a new report from Gartner. Adobe Systems, along with Verizon Wireless, revealed a deal to build Flash animation software into Verizon mobile phones. Adobe, which did not disclose financial details or potential launch dates, said the agreement will make Verizon the first wireless operator in the United States to offer mobile phones with built-in Flash technology. Flash is software used to design animated graphics, slick Web sites, video games, movies and advertisements on the Web. The new service will allow customers to more quickly view graphic images on their screens. For Adobe, it pushes the company beyond computers and into the potentially lucrative mobile phone market.
