Palm announced a strategic relationship with the private-equity firm Elevation Partners and a recapitalization plan that will position Palm to lead the next phase of the smartphone and mobile-computing markets. Under the planned recapitalization, shareholders will receive a $9 per share cash distribution. Elevation will invest $325 million in Palm, and the company will utilize these proceeds along with existing cash and $400 million of new debt to finance the cash distribution.

Apple announced that it has updated its high-end MacBook Pro laptops with faster processors, better graphics and more memory space.

The laptops are still available in three models: two 15.4-inch versions that retail for $1,999 and $2,499, and a larger, 17-inch edition that costs $2,799. But with Tuesday’s update, the lower-end 15-inch model is now equipped with 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processors (previously, it had a 2.16GHz chip); the higher-end 15-incher and the 17-incher now come with 2.4GHz processors, up from 2.33GHz. These new processors are indeed Intel’s latest Centrino–or “Santa Rosa”–chips, which were introduced in early May.

Via Technologies has unfurled a prototype for a mini notebook that will compete against similar small computers touted by Samsung and Intel, but sell for less.

The Taiwanese company is also showing off motherboards that will appear in smartphones in about a year.

The mini notebook and mobile-phone motherboard–which are being shown at the Computex trade show in Taipei, Taiwan, this week–are part of Via’s strategy to eke out market share in the portable space. (Via has less than 3 percent of the market.) The company’s C7 processors do not provide as much performance as chips from Intel and Advanced Micro Devices, but the C7 also doesn’t consume a lot of power.

Playing these games is quite fun and addictive. Nice graphics with native qVGA and VGA support, simple rules and easy controls make progressing through each game very enjoyable.

Spb Sudoku is the Pocket PC realization of the well-known puzzle game. The goal of the game is to complete the grid so that every row, column and 3×3 box contains the numbers 1 through 9 with no repeats.
