Berlin bans handy iPhone metro app

A student developed a handy train timetable for the iPhone but Berlin public transportation company BVG and Dutch Rail claim the app violates their copyright. The popular iPhone application helps people navigate the city’s vast metro system.

paybox Enables m-Payment Service for Vodafone and o2 Germany

Vodafone and o2, in partnership with paybox, have launched the mpass mobile payment system in Germany. In this first phase, mpass lets customers pay online and to top-up airtime via the internet or their mobile phone. Users can already use m-Payments at a number of online retailers such as CinemaxX, Blume2000.de, EuroFuchs, Kickz and Beate Uhse.

Netflix, TiVo team up after 4-year courtship

Netflix Inc. and TiVo Inc. are joining forces to deliver more movies and old TV episodes to their subscribers. TiVo’s newer digital video recorders will be able to beam selections from 12,000 movies and TV shows offered through Netflix’s streaming service. TiVo’s DVRs will start serving Netflix subscribers in early December.

Facebook worm resurfaces on Google

Researchers at Fortinet have noticed a program similar to the Koobface worm starting to use the Google Reader and Picasa websites to spread. Koobface uses images that look like YouTube videos on Google sites in hopes of tricking victims into downloading malicious Trojan software.
