In an effort to rein-in internet hogs, AT&T is testing data-use limits in Reno, Nevada. If the tests work, they plan to expand such limits to other areas. AT&T claims 5 percent of its subscribers use 50 percent of the capacity.

The Australian Government plans to clamp down on the internet to “protect children”. These schemes would put in place a server-level content filtering system, to block material unsuitable for children. However, there will be no opt-out from filtering for parents. Another case of Government going overboard.

DataViz, Inc.has announced the availability of Documents To Go Premium Edition and PDF To Go for BlackBerry smartphones. Documents To Go enables a full set of features for viewing, editing and creating native Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files and attachments. PDF To Go allows users to view native PDF files on their BlackBerry smartphones.

Intel and manufacturer ASUS have launched a project inviting people to tell them what they would like to see in a PC. A website, WePC.com, allows people to share and comment on ideas to their perfect PC.

Subnotebooks like the Asus Eee PC, the Dell Mini 9 and the HP 2133 Mini-note may soon cost as little as $99. At least they will if you’re willing to commit to a two-year mobile broadband contract much like the one with your cell phone.
