
DataViz Inc. has announced a new synchronization product that brings important files from office suite applications like Word, Excel and others to the Palm Computing platform. Documents To Go uses 3Com’s HotSync technology to provide a solution for viewing up-to-date versions of documents on any Palm Connected organizer. It will be released in the first quarter of 1999 for both Macintosh and Windows.

Certicom Corp. announced SSL Plus for the Palm Computing Platform, a commercial SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocol toolkit for the Palm Computing platform. Developers can quickly build a secure Internet channel to enterprise applications from Palm Computing Platform-based handheld computers using Certicom’s small, fast and strong elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) technology.

Pilot Island Publishing, Inc. announced the PalmParrot, a multimedia device for the 3Com PalmPilot and Palm III. PalmParrot is a new snap-on sound card that offers users multimedia features, including high quality digital recording and playback capabilities that allow Palm users to record and playback notes, memos, reminders, and more.

Whole-Brain Media previewed DinGo! at the 3Com Palm Computing Platform Developer Conference in Santa Clara, California. DinGo! brings online presence and collaboration to the handheld device market, through Activerse’s Ding! Enterprise presence platform. DinGo! allows handheld users to communicate with any Ding! user anywhere on the wireless/wired network. This includes handheld users, standard network PC users, or any other application embedded with Ding! presence technology.

New Datastick technology that gives 3Com’s Palm Computing Platform Personal Digital Assistant the capability of acting as a hand-held data acquisition system was previewed today at the PDA Expo in San Francisco by Datastick Systems. The Datastick Data Acquisition System consists of a hardware unit and software. It allows the measurement, recording and display of such data as 3D magnetism, 3D acceleration, temperature, pressure and many other analog sensor applications and is currently compatible with the Palm III PDA as well as the PalmPilot Professional Edition with upgrade card.

ZDNN is reporting that that the Palm IV, code named Razor, will not be displayed at this week’s Palm Computing Platform Worldwide Developers Conference. Razor is a slimmed-down version of the Palm III, while the Palm IV is expected to use built-in wireless technology to deliver the Internet directly to the user. Other features expected in the Palm IV include a better display, 4MB of RAM and an extra 2MB of ROM.

TealPoint Software announced the release of the upgrade to TealPaint, their painting and sketching application for the 3COM Pilot, PalmPilot, and Palm III personal digital organizers. TealPaint version 3.0 adds horizontal and vertical scrolling, image compression, animation, custom buttons, image rotation, scaling, and a view-only browsing mode. TealPaint sells for $17.95 and works on all 3COM connected organizers.

Pendragon Software Corporation announced a new version of its Pendragon Forms software package for the Palm Computing platform of handheld devices. Version 2.0 of Pendragon Forms adds scripting and an enhanced database engine to the package. Sophisticated forms with smart navigation and up to 250 fields can now be created with little or no programming. Support for the Symbol Technologies SPT 1500 barcode scanning solution is also included.
