Royal’s daVinci

PC Magazine has a review of Royal’s daVinci PDA. The daVinci can be synchronized with popular PIMs such as GoldMine, Lotus Organizer, Microsoft Outlook and Schedule+, and Symantec Corp.’s ACT! via CompanionLink software, a $40 option.

Sun’s Jini

Here’s an article from Internet World on companies that are developing products with Sun’s Jini technology. Companies endorsing Jini included Sony, Phillips Electronics, Nokia, and Kodak, computer manufacturers like IBM, Quantum, and 3Com’s Palm Computing division, and service providers such as America Online and Kinko’s.

Orang-Otang’s Durango

Orang-Otang Computers Inc. announced the release of its new Durango line of wearable computing accessories. Designed to fit handheld computers and PDAs, such as the 3Com Palm Pilot and Philips Nino, the Durango line turns handhelds into hands-free wearable computers.

New Palm Computing president

3Com announced Robin Abrams will be the new president of Palm Computing. Abrams will join the company on February 12 and will also be senior vice president at 3Com.

Japanese support for Palm

3Com Corp. announced Japanese language support for all products based on its Palm Computing platform. The company has developed a Japanese language-enabled version of the Palm OS software. The following partners and developers will be supporting or delivering products for the Palm Computing platform in Japan: Oracle, Teamsoft/Nippon, Polaroid, Puma, TRG, Netscape, Remedy, Lotus, Landware, Aportis, Concept Kitchen, IOData and Accton Technologies.

AvantGo and Symbol

AvantGo, Inc. will announce a relationship with Symbol Technologies, Inc. at the Symbol Worldwide Sales & Partner Conference. Symbol will include the AvantGo Client in its Palm Computing platforms and future Windows CE devices.

IntelliGolf for Windows CE

Two new versions of the popular IntelliGolf software were announced today for Windows CE compatible Palm-size PCs, namely the IntelliGolf Par and Birdie editions. Shipments will begin the end of February and will run on the following devices: Casio Cassiopeia, Phillips Nino, Everex Freestyle, Uniden UniPro and Bcom Mars. A free Windows CE trial version will be available soon.
