Lucent and Windows CE

Thanks to reader Chris Altvater for sending this item about Lucent Technologies and Windows CE devices. Lucent Technologies extended its WaveLAN wireless LANs to Windows CE devices. With a wireless LAN connection, users of mobile devices will be able to access e-mail, databases, and other corporate information sources, as well as connect to the Internet via the LAN.

Sun licensed HotSync

3Com Corporation and Sun Microsystems today announced that Sun has licensed HotSync data synchronization technology developed by Palm Computing, Inc., a 3Com company. Sun will port the HotSync technology to the Java Platform and create Java technology-based conduits that will provide data synchronization between Palm Computing platform handheld devices and applications running on Sun platform-based workstations.
