
Puma Technology announced that it will launch a free Internet-based synchronization service scheduled to debut in the first quarter of 2000. Intellisync.com will allow anyone with Internet access to keep PC applications, mobile devices and Web-based content and services effortlessly synchronized from one central address on the Internet.

Enterprise Harmony ’99, an Extended Systems desktop data synchronization solution, now supports Lotus Organizer 6.0. Enterprise Harmony ’99 allows users to access, update and transfer data between desktop or laptop PCs and handheld devices, such as Palm, Windows CE and Pocket Viewer.

TRG Products (TRG) has signed a licensing agreement with Palm Computing permitting the company to develop and produce devices based on the Palm Computing platform. TRG will introduce its first product, a handheld computer for enterprise deployment in October to coincide with the PalmSource ’99 conference, Palm Computing’s worldwide developer software conference.

ZDNet uncovered a security problem in Palm Computing’s Palm.Net service. The hole could give someone access to the iMessenger Blind Carbon Copy server where they could get a copy of all messages you sent from your Palm VII organizer by automatically sending a blind carbon copy (“BCC”) of all your mail to themselves. The article also said that once 3Com knew about this, they quickly pulled the offending script and continue to work on a permanent solution.

Monarch Marking Systems introduced a palm-size printer to integrate with the 3Com Palm III Series and Symbol SPT 1500 computers.The Monarch 6015 Handheld Printer features a clam-shell design, thermal direct printing, an ergonomic design and easy plug and print capability. The printer weighs less than 16 oz. and operates on four AA batteries. Monarch plans to offer the product internationally early next year.

K2 Technologies introduced a wireless application for the trading of Insurance risk. This application enables a user to trade risk remotely via the Palm VII organizer. The Web clipping application has been developed by K2 Technologies for CATEX, the real time Internet-based insurance risk trading network.
