MyCorder

Datastick Systems previewed its MyCorder Data Acquisition technology as a Springboard expansion module for the Handspring Visor Internet World. The new MyCorder technology allows the Visor handheld to act as a multi-channel data acquisition instrument. The company also announced its new Datastick Connection Pro software for the MyCorder DAS-1206 Data Acquisition System for the Palm OS operating system. The new software will run on the Visor and most Palm handhelds.

No more Nino

News.com reports that Philips has decided to pull the plug on its Nino line of handheld PCs. The article did not say how much longer they will be around, but price cuts on the devices are very likely.

Going to Venus

ESS Technology and Microsoft announced that several original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are showcasing Venus-based computers based on ESS’ VIC (Video-Internet-Computer) chips and Microsoft Venus software with Windows CE as the core operating system for the Internet appliance industry.

Quo Vadis GPS for Visor

Navicom and MarcoSoft unveiled their new GPS receiver for the Handspring Visor at Internet World ’99 in New York. The Quo Vadis HandyGPS is the first Handspring Springboard expansion module to incorporate the functions of a GPS receiver in addition to a street-level mapping system. The module is meant to work with any devices that support the Springboard expansion interface such as the Visor expandable handheld computers.

ReleaseNow.com announced the creation of a download distribution system for Electronic Arts. ReleaseNow.com’s download distribution technology allows Electronic Arts customers to purchase and download the Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Golf for Palm Computing Connected Organizers game at the EA Store.

Palm to go multilingual

Global Sight announced today that Palm Computing has selected the Global Sight Ambassador 1.8 application to assist in developing a multilingual Web presence. The project will involve localizing customer support content to meet the language and cultural requirements of the company’s French- and German-speaking markets.
