Palm awarded patent

Palm Computing was awarded the six millionth U.S. patent today in a ceremony in Washington, D.C. The patent recognized Palm Computing’s HotSync technology.

HP device in the works

Asia Biz Tech reports that Hewlett-Packard Japan will release a Windows CE-based palm-sized PC next year. HP Japan’s new model will be thinner and lighter in weight than the Jornada 430se.

New processors from AMD

AMD announced the immediate availability of four new versions of its AMD-K6-2E embedded processor family at speeds up to 350 MHz. The new additions include: the 350 MHz and 333 MHz standard power processors, and the 333 MHz and 300 MHz low-power processors. Designed to run both 16-bit and 32-bit software, the AMD-K6-2E processor delivers high-performance x86 instruction set processing and is compatible with the Microsoft Windows CE, Windows 98, Windows NT and Windows NTE operating systems.

iBrowser in kit for CE

AvantGo announced AvantGo Enterprise Publisher, a new member of its enterprise product family designed to extend Web-based corporate intranet and Internet content to handheld devices. AvantGo Enterprise Publisher enables companies to extend their intranet or Internet content to Palm Computing platform and Windows CE-based handheld computers. AvantGo also announced that it has renamed AvantGo Enterprise 3 to AvantGo Enterprise Interactive.
