AvantGo gets new CEO

AvantGo announced that Richard Owen has been appointed CEO, effective immediately. He will also take a seat on AvantGo’s Board of Directors. The company also announced that Felix Lin, former CEO and founder, will remain Chairman of the Board and continue to have an active day-to-day role focused on the company’s business and technology vision.

NCR, Inside Out Networks

NCR Corporation and Inside Out Networks have entered into a licensing agreement through which NCR will incorporate Inside Out Network’s Universal Serial Bus (USB) software and technology into its of point-of-service (POS) terminals and peripherals. Through its partnership with Inside Out Networks, NCR will provide USB device driver software with support for Windows 95/98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows CE.

Socket, JetForm agreement

Socket Communications and JetForm Corporation announced an agreement to co-market wireless e-process solutions for enterprises adopting mobile computers powered by the Microsoft Windows CE operating system. Products covered under the cooperative marketing agreement include Socket’s Digital Phone Card Connection Kit hardware and JetForm Pocket Form software.

Lineo, Inc. announced Lineo Embedix PDA, a Windows CE-compatible embedded Linux software solution. Embedix PDA will provide a Windows CE-compatible layer on top of Lineo Embedix Linux, allowing Windows CE applications to be ported to Lineo Embedix Linux, a stable, compact and low-cost OS.

Color coming

News.com has this story on Palm Computing’s colorful future. Palm Computing sent a letter to developers this week announcing the Color Device Developer Connection event on Feb. 2. A Palm licensee will display the first device running on the Palm operating system with a color display.
