
Synchrologic that it has added new features to its iMobile Suite product that will let business professionals synchronize data between their Palm devices and Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Notes servers.

AvantGo, Inc. announced that iMotors, an online direct seller of certified used cars, has deployed AvantGo Enterprise to give its nationwide team of buyers wireless access to and interaction with the company’s customer order database via mobile devices.

Emwerks, Inc. will show Early Access Release 1.0 of its Mobile Applications Platform (MAP) for Personal Java applications for the Palm OS at PalmSource 2000. MAP is a full-function, compact implementation of the Personal Java platform, designed to permit business applications such as light-weight databases to run in connected, disconnected, and intermittently connected modes on the Palm device.

FileMaker, Inc, has announced the immediate availability of FileMaker Mobile Companion for the Palm OS platform. It’s designed to give users the ability to transfer and synchronize data bi-directionally between FileMaker Pro databases on Windows and Mac OS systems and Palm OS handheld computers.

The Register reports on a survey by US broker Bear Stearns that says demand for Palm and Handspring brand PDAs is running higher than expectations.

TealPoint Software announced the release of the TealMovie Multimedia System, which enables any model Palm handheld to become a player of video and animation. It supports playback up to 25 frames per second, full screen color or grayscale imagery, and synchronized sound playback capability.

Handmark, Inc. announced that it has successfully enlisted $1.4 million during its initial round of financing.

adAlive, Inc. announced it has commenced a technical beta test of its network of Internet access-points for PDA users. The test is taking place at the Pittsburgh airport and will expand to other U.S. airports this winter. The company also announced strategic partnerships with content and infrastructure providers including AvantGo, Inc., JCDecaux SkySites, MobileStar, and 10Best.

CNET News.com has a preview of what’s to come at this week’s PalmSource event in Santa Clara. While Palm chief executive Carl Yankowski is quoted as saying, “Easily half of PalmSource will be devoted to business,” with about 40 percent of the developers there focused on corporate applications. More importantly, however, is the fact that Claudia Schiffer will be in attendance hyping her yet to be released Palm Vx Claudia Schiffer Edition.

Bachmann Software & Services introduced four new products, all of which will be demonstrated this week during PalmSource 2000. The products are PrintBoy 2.2, PrintBoy Documents, PrintBoy Deluxe, and Bachmann Print Manager 3.2. Each of the new releases allow handheld computer users to graphically print information stored on their handheld.
