
The cool folks at Mobile Coders have announced that they’re donating 10% to disaster relief. Good for them!

In a desperate quest to issue a press release about something, the folks at Margi Systems have announced that the executives at AvantGo will be using their products to give presentations. As news goes, this isn’t. But as entertainment for how far a PR flack will go to find news value, hey, enjoy it while you can!

MobiMate has announced the release of PhoneMate 2.0, a new version of its Address Book extension. With the new version you can send an SMS (text message) directly from your Palm handheld, if you have a compatible IR or Bluetooth-equipped cellular phone. This version also supports a lot of GSM phones not previously supported, and adds new features to the search mechanism. It’s also pretty slick-looking on a color display.

HandEra today announced support for the Symbol Wireless Networker, an 802.11b (Wi-Fi) CompactFlash adapter. This means you can access the net on WiFi enabled networks, straight from your HandEra device.

Apparently, according to Silicon.com, Mike Weatherley, Palm’s Veep of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, did a little of his own carpet bombing on the Pocket PC. For some reason, Weatherley’s unimpressed by the Pocket PC.

According to NEWS.COM, MobileStar’s laying off and shuttering some of it’s WiFi (802.11b) networking sites, including some Starbucks. This is very, very sad. We believe that offering WiFi in cafes, bookstores, and restaurants is a brilliant concept. Executing on it may be more difficult, though.

According to a NEWS.COM report, shares of Be, after the Palm acquisition and all debts are paid, will be worth about a dime. We’ll bet you could hear a pin drop in the homes and offices of those shareholders.
