
Samsung Telecommunications America and Sprint announced the availability of the SPH-I300 Sprint PCS Phone by Samsung. The SPH-I300 is a wireless PDA phone that was developed jointly by Sprint PCS and STA, in conjunction with Palm.

Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment launched an interactive PDA-based game to promote Revolution Studios & Columbia Pictures’ The One. The game simulates combat between two players inspired by the Pa Kwa martial arts style used in the film. Players can fight computer-generated opponents or other users.

The PDA Company is now offering PDA support services through their new eStore. The eStore allows PDA users to purchase tech support inquiry tickets, device configuration services and schedule online training classes. It also gives PDA developers and product manufacturers the ability to order and schedule software testing sessions. A text only version of the store and main Web site are available for those using Internet accessible devices and browsers.

iambic Software has released iambic Office for Palm Powered devices. iambic Office includes TinySheet, iambic Mail, and Fast Writer.

Handspring launched a promotion called Module Madness. Ten developers are offering a 20 percent instant rebate on 23 different Springboard modules on PalmGear. The promotion will last until November 6, 2001.

Cutting Edge Software announced the release of Quickoffice 5.6. Quickoffice now offers a word processor with full text formatting and HTML editing capabilities and a spreadsheet including more than 80 functions.

Palm, Inc. announced the PalmSource developer conference has been rescheduled for Feb. 5-8, 2002, at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California.

Handspring announced that the price of Handspring Visor Prism will drop from $399 to $299. The Visor Prism is available online at Handspring’s Web site and at retail stores.

The folks at Cutting Edge have released their version 5.6 of Quickoffice. According to the press release, this release of Quickoffice features an entirely revamped version of the Quickword word processor, including full text formatting capabilities and a unique feature that enables advanced users to edit documents using standard HTML tags. This new version also offers full Office XP integration, along with improvements to Office 97 and Office 2000 integration. The Quicksheet portion of the product has also been upgraded, adding more than 20 new spreadsheet functions and optimizing the speed in which Quicksheet recalculates cells.
