MasterCard International has released the MasterCard Global Service PDA Guide, an online downloadable version of the MasterCard Global Service international emergency phone list for PDAs. Cardholders can download the emergency service telephone numbers in their PDAs. PDA and travel-related Web sites worldwide are invited to share this MasterCard software for international travelers with their Web site visitors. Developers and Web administrators can visit here for information on adding the guide to their sites.

CNET News.com reports Sony will announce the $299 Clie PEG-T415, which will incorporate features of a handheld computer and a universal remote control. According to the article, Sony has boosted the reach of the Clie’s infrared port to 15 feet and added software support for remote control of products from about 20 consumer electronics manufacturers.

CNET News.com reports Taiwanese computer company Acer announced the first Chinese-language handheld using the Palm OS. According to the article, in addition to recognizing Chinese characters and translating between Chinese and English, the Acer device can also play MP3 music files and can read data stored on Memory Stick flash memory cards.

Paragon Software announced SlovoEd 3.0, a new version of their handheld dictionary software for the Palm OS. New features which come with new version include a new, improved interface with color support, customization, database sorting order, and text selection engines.
