TealMemBrain released

TealPoint Software announced the release of TealMemBrain version 1.01 for Palm OS handhelds. A memory monitor and stack manager, TealMemBrain helps tune memory usage on your Palm handheld, identifying potential conflicts and adjusting the stack for greatly improved stability running multiple hacks and drivers. A pop-up information window provides snapshot of the current memory state of the device from within any program, helping to show any potential shortages or conflicts. A special stack-boost feature optionally increases the amount of stack memory allocated to applications, eliminating the primary cause of instability when running muliple drivers or Palm OS system extensions, commonly called “hacks.”

Handheld romance

Apparently, you can’t get much more romantic than friends of our own Emily Lopizzo. According to their wedding site on The Knot (scroll down to How It Happened), when John proposed to Beth, he did so by pulling out his Palm handheld to set the date. Clearly John and Beth were meant for each other when Beth then took out her Palm handheld to check her Date Book for an opening. Apparently the getting down on bended knee thing is just SO last millennium!

John and Beth are due to be married next week, so we’d like to send them a hearty best wishes from the whole PalmPower family.

SPELL.COM

One of our very favorite buddies is testing out a new site, called SPELL.COM, which is supposed to help you spell words. It also has a number of helpful study guides. The site is a definite work-in-progress, but we invite you to check it out, beat on it, and send our friend feedback about what you love and what you love to hate. Seriously, be nice, but provide real input to him, if you’re in the mood. This is a guy who’s been working really hard and it’s beginning to show some potential.

Important warning

We recently recieved a press release from Medicines.MD of Rochester, NY, a person calling himself Micheal McCormick, and a company called Ranbaxy, Ltd. It’s possible that some press outlets may have picked up the contents of the release and are publishing it, unmodified. The press release states that generic CIPRO (the antibiotic that’s been used to help treat Anthrax) is available via mail-order without a prescription. Now, of course, the interesting thing is that Ranbaxy is located in east Asia and, basically, if you buy this stuff, you’re ordering little pills from some unknown company in east Asia.

WARNING: Do not order generic CIPRO, also known as ciprofloxacin, via the mail or the Internet. See your doctor. We haven’t received any particularly problematic reports about this, but it’s still not a good idea. Don’t take CIPRO unless you actually need it. You’ll develop a resistance that could interfere with treatment should you legitimately need it. In other words, don’t fall for these scams.
