XcelleNet, Inc. and Palm, Inc. announced a memorandum of understanding outlining their intention to work together to deliver management solutions to enterprise customers deploying the Palm i705 Enterprise Wireless Messaging Solution. This joint effort is part of Palm’s enterprise strategy to provide businesses with complete and easy-to-implement IT management solutions.

SolutionPlanet award finalist

FilePoint, PrintBoy in utility suite

At PalmSource Bachmann Software announced that its two Palm OS applications, FilePoint and PrintBoy, are available with other essential utilities as part of the Mobile Tools utility suite offered by Handmark. Mobile Tools is a suite of Palm OS utility applications designed to improve the handheld computing experience of Palm OS device users. Staples and CompUSA are among the national retailers committed to carrying the product.

At PalmSource Cutting Edge Software, Inc. announced Quickoffice Conference Edition has been released for beta. Quickoffice Conference Edition is a peer-to-peer data conferencing application that enables colleagues to collaborate on spreadsheets and documents in real-time using Palm OS based devices with a TCP/IP connection.

If you’ve been curious about where the news has been these past few days, we’ve got the answer for you. Our internal email server took a dive (apparently Windows 2000 Server isn’t quite as rock solid as the marketing hype would have you believe), and we’ve been working hard getting things back into gear. Revised book by Bachmann

Bachmann Software announced that its president, Glenn Bachmann, has entered a publishing relationship with SAMS Publishing to produce a revised version of his book, Palm Programming: The Authoritative Solution. The revised version of “Palm Programming” will include guidance on creating Palm applications that utilize Palm’s new OS 5 operating system, as well as addressing new topics of interest to Palm OS developers such as expansion memory card, color, and high resolution display support. The new edition is expected to be available at bookstores by later this summer.

Compatibility tools for OS 5

PalmSource, Inc., the Palm OS subsidiary of Palm, Inc. announced it is providing its vast development community with compatibility tools to ensure that existing software programs run smoothly on Palm OS 5. The Palm OS 5 beta will be previewed at the PalmSource Conference and is the next major Palm OS release that supports ARM-compliant processors from Intel, Motorola, and Texas Instruments.
